How to Use Add-On Studio

Add-on Studio is a free tool that lets you create add-ons for Minecraft Bedrock Edition using only your browser. You can create items, blocks, recipes, and entities on the screen, check their appearance in a 3D preview, and export them directly as .mcaddon or .mcpack files. You can create files that conform to the official schema without having to memorize the fine details of JSON formatting. You can also import and edit existing .mcaddon files.

Basic Process

  1. Create a new project or load an existing .mcaddon file.
  2. Add items and blocks, and configure their names, textures, and various components.
  3. Add recipes and entities, and adjust the colors in the Texture Editor if necessary.
  4. Use the "Export" button to save the .mcaddon file, then load it into the world to verify that it works.

What We Can Do

  • Manage multiple items and blocks at once: Name translations (lang) and catalogs are automatically organized.
  • 3D Preview: You can instantly see how blocks and entities look.
  • Script with Blocks: Once you log in, you can use a feature that lets you create Script API code simply by arranging blocks.
  • Preserve Content When Importing and Exporting: You can edit and export the contents of an imported add-on without corrupting them.

Once you've created it, the Add-on Loading JSON Generator is a handy tool for deploying it to the server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I create with this tool?

You can create everything—including JSON files for items and blocks, texture settings (item_texture.json), display names in Japanese and English (lang), scripts for custom components, and even the manifest.json file—all at once, and export them as .mcaddon or .mcpack files. You can also create blocks and check their appearance using the 3D preview. It supports recipes (standard, non-standard, and furnace recipes). It also supports entities (model, texture, and animation settings, as well as 3D previews).

Where do you get the component entries from?

The server periodically retrieves and uses the official schema (the JSON schema for `bedrock-samples`) published by Mojang. Since you can switch between the stable and beta versions, you can choose new components as soon as they are officially released.

Do Minecraft's default textures count as add-ons?

It won't be included. Standard textures are loaded from Mojang's public samples solely for preview purposes, and the add-on will only contain references to the in-game textures of the same name. If you import your own PNG files, only those images will be included in the add-on.

Will my work be saved?

Since it is automatically saved in the browser (IndexedDB), it will be restored even if you reload the page. If you are logged in, a temporary copy is also stored on the server, allowing you to continue working from another device. If the file size exceeds approximately 4 MB, only the text (excluding images) will be saved. You can also save it to a file by clicking "Save Project."

Can I load existing add-ons?

You can import .mcaddon, .mcpack, and .zip files, as well as item JSON, manifest.json, item_texture.json, PNG, lang, and JS files, all at once via drag-and-drop. The tool will export any items it doesn't recognize as-is.
