server-ui Form Builder (OreUI Edition)

Build a CustomForm in OreUI (DDUI) and generate code automatically. You can even preview how the screen changes as values change using the virtual UI.

This is the OreUI (DDUI) version. For the traditional ActionFormData and ModalFormData, please use the server-ui form builder.

Virtual UI (OreUI-style—you can actually interact with it)

When you click “▶ Run,” a form will appear here.
As you click buttons or enter text, the screen will update in real time.
Chat Commands for Player "Steve"
The current value of the Observable (the value associated with an input field, slider, etc.)
(This will appear when you open the form.)
Result of `show()` (when the form is closed)

How to Use the OreUI (DDUI) Form Builder

OreUI is a new UI framework for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. With Data-Driven UI (DDUI), you can create interfaces where the screen automatically updates whenever a value changes by binding Observables—which hold values—to UI components. This approach differs from traditional forms, and it may take a little time to get used to the syntax. With this builder, you can assemble CustomForms and MessageBoxes on the screen and automatically generate code while verifying the integration with Observables in a virtual UI.

Procedure

  1. Add a title to the form and add controls (such as labels, buttons, toggles, and sliders).
  2. Assign an Observable to the component you want to assign a value to.
  3. Use the virtual UI to interact with the system and verify that the display changes in response to changes in the values.
  4. Copy the generated code and embed it in your script.

Things You Should Know

  • Since DDUI is a new feature, the available components and syntax may vary depending on the version. Please check the latest official documentation as well.
  • If you want to use beta features, you may need to enable experimental features for your world.
  • If the conventional method is sufficient, the server-ui form builder is the easier option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is OreUI (DDUI)? How is it different from the traditional server-ui?

This is a Data-Driven UI (DDUI) form that runs on Bedrock’s new UI engine (Ore UI).While the traditional ActionFormData and ModalFormData followed a “display → submit → receive results” flow, DDUI’s CustomForm operates while the form remains open, triggered by button onClick events or Observables (containers that automatically update the screen when their values change). You can create interactions—such as counters or fields that reveal additional items when checked—without having to reopen the form.

What is an Observable?

These are containers for holding values. There are ObservableString, ObservableNumber, and ObservableBoolean types. When you change a value using setData(), the corresponding part of the screen is automatically updated. The values from input fields, sliders, toggles, and drop-down menus are stored in an Observable with { clientWritable: true }, and when the player interacts with them, that Observable is updated. The values are retrieved using getData().

What happens when you write “{variable_name}”?

If you enter {variable_name} in text for headings, labels, buttons, or messages, the value of that variable will be inserted. The code is generated so that the text automatically updates whenever the variable changes (e.g., “Count: {visits}”).

What is the difference between the stable version and the beta version?

The basics of CustomForm, MessageBox, and Observable are available starting with the stable release 2.2.0.multiButtonRow (horizontally arranged buttons), the CustomForm option (topCloseButtonVisible), the third button and horizontal layout in MessageBox, the number of decimal places for sliders (fixedFormatDigits), and various tooltips are available only in the beta version (2.4.0-beta).Toggling these settings in the configuration will change the behavior of both the code and the virtual UI.

Will the existing server-ui tools no longer be available?

No. The existing tools for ActionFormData and ModalFormData can still be used as is on a separate page (the server-ui form builder).

What are some things to keep in mind when using the simulator?

If you try to open another form while this form is open, it sets the UserBusy flag (please check the game for the exact behavior on a physical device). Therefore, when opening another form, I’ve included a “Close This Form” button first. The X button is displayed by default, and the form can also be closed using the Esc key. Only certain methods of the `player` class—such as `sendMessage`, `runCommand`, `tag`, and `playSound`—will function.
